If you remember the first day you went to school, you would know that this experience is a mixture of both excitement and fear. Although your child might be enthusiastic about meeting new friends, he or she might not totally be up to staying at a completely new setting. Most of all, your child might not be comfortable with staying away from home. This is why it is important to make sure that the first day of his or her school life goes smoothly. If something goes wrong, your child will be afraid to step out for a long time. So, make sure to follow the instructions given below.

Have a Chat

One of the main reasons why kids get scared of schools is because they have the wrong ideas about the place. False expectations need to be eliminated in order to ensure that your child will not be disappointed with his or her second home. So, before you send your child to school, have a chat. Tell him or her about what to expect and mention the benefits of obtaining a good education. You also might want to warn him or her about bullies and strangers. However, do not scare them too much.

Pack the Bag

Never pack the bag early in the morning. Since it is the first day of school, you will have so many things to worry about. So, try not to leave this for the last minute. When packing the bag the previous day, involve your child. He or she needs to know how to do this task without any help. When packing all the stationery items, teach him or her to use them the right way. This will enable you to ensure that they will not misuse these items.

Sort Out the Meals

This is yet another thing that you should not leave for the last minute. Of course, you can pick something up on the way. However, it is best not to do so since it will become a habit. Figure out what you are going to give your child well ahead. You will have to wake up early in the morning and keep it ready. It is best to stick to something healthy and filling. You can either make some toast or opt for cereal, since these are healthy and can also be prepared easily. You can also pack something light for your child to take to school in case if he or she gets hungry.

Leave Early

Plan to leave a few minutes earlier than what is necessary. Since it is the first day of school, the roads will definitely be jammed. You do not want to be late on the first day since it can look bad on you. The teacher might think that you are irresponsible. Moreover, it can get a bad name for your child. So, make sure to leave early to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
If you adhere to these instructions, you can be assured that your child’s first day in school will be a happy and unforgettable one.
