The History of Spiced Right Barbecue: Spiced Right Barbecue has been serving up great barbecue to Lilburn and Atlanta since 1988. After 4 years of competing in barbecue cook-offs across the South, Steve Lelle and Bill Stansell teamed up together and put their competition cooker to the work out back of the old Hazel's Restaurant at 5464 Lawrenceville Highway. Although Hazel would not allow them to put up a sign, business grew, and Steve left his job in aviation electronics to work full time at Spiced Right. In 1991, the new dining room was added and a deck was built in 2003. Since 1984, Steve and Bill won over 200 awards at Spiced Right - that is what you call "Award Winning." Our Barbecue is cooked to tradition, over a low temperature, and a real wood fire, and all night long. What sets our barbecue apart is our "Pull Apart" tenderness, and flavoring from our own signature seasonings. We like to joke around and say "If the colonel had our recipes he'd be a General."
