Malware threats rise – backup your data now!
News reports urgently point out that criminal attacks are ramping up, as these malicious crooks take advantage of the global crisis. In its latest story, Trend Micro reports ever-increasing criminal activity involving Malware, phishing, Ransomware, malicious domains, and fake website landing pages.
It has already been widely reported that German healthcare authorities fell for such a dupe by ordering €15 million in face masks, which the perpetrators did not own. Police intervention foiled the plot. And if the German authorities can fall for something like this, we all can.
Take Action Now
To stymie threats:
· Instruct employees to immediately delete any suspicious email, text, video, voice, or anything received on company or personal PCs, laptops, mobile phones or other devices that they do not recognize. DO NOT OPEN THESE unless they have contacted the sender for authentication.
· Backup your Data now, and on a recurring basis
· Develop a business continuity plan

Use only up-to-date operating systems on all PC’s, Laptops and servers. Continually download most recent OEM security patches.
Update any infrastructure using Windows 7, Server 2008 R2, & Small Business Server 2011operating systems NOW because all are End of Life, and vulnerable to attack
Deploy an on-site firewall with an up to date software security suite.
Expedite onsite backup stored locally. Simultaneously deploy off-site backup routines.
Execute good password security. Change all passwords once every three months, or more often.
Implement 2-Factor Authentication now.
