MAT 2018 is a standardized test for facilitating the business schools to select candidates for MBA and other allied programs. Read this post to know the eligibility, syllabus, and exam pattern of this test.

MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is conducted by All India Management Association four times in a year. The first one being in February, and last one being December apart from two more tests that are conducted in May and September. It is a test which has been conducted since 1988. The test facilitates the B-Schools (Business Schools) to select candidates for their MBA and other allied programs.

The Ministry of Human Resource Department, Government of India, has approved it as a national level test since 2003. The MAT score can help candidates get admission in any B-School irrespective of whether the institute is international or national. It is one of the largest tests in the country which enables students to get admission across more than 600 Business Schools in India alone. Around 20000 candidates appear for MAT every three months.

Eligibility for MAT 2018

Unlike a lot of other entrance exams, the eligibility criteria for MAT 2018 is not very stringent. Only the candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria can appear for the MAT 2018 exam. The candidate should either be a graduate (any stream) or final year student of any graduate course.

Candidates are not required to score any minimum marks to be eligible for the exam. However, they do need to pass graduation successfully. Apart from this, there is no restriction on the number of attempts or age limit to appear for MAT.

Syllabus for MAT 2018

The MAT syllabus is designed for testing the general aptitude of the candidates. MAT 2018 syllabus is divided into five sections-

● Indian and global environment (40 marks)-
● Data analysis and sufficiency (40 marks)
● Language comprehension (40 marks)
● Intelligence and critical reasoning (40 marks)
● Mathematical skills (40 marks)

All the candidates are expected to have a thorough grip on verbal ability, logical and analytical reasoning, quant, data interpretation, social awareness, and mathematics.

Exam Pattern for MAT 2018

Candidates appearing the test should also know MAT exam pattern 2018 to make sure that they are well-prepared.

MAT is a computerised exam. Students get 150 minutes to answer 200 objective type questions. Each question will have four options and candidates should select the right option. The question paper is divided into five sections, and every section is worth 40 marks. There is no sectional time limit in the exam. Candidates get one mark for every correct answer, and ¼ marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

After the completion of the exam, AIMA announces the results after around a month from the date of the exam. After the result is released, candidates can check and download their scorecard from the official website of AIMA.
