It is rightly said that home is where the heart is. A home should be your key to peace when you come home after a long tired day at work. Whenever you buy a new home, usually there is no need for renovations. But as the years pass by, the condition of the house begins to deteriorate and you might feel the need to renovate your home.

Every house needs to be maintained properly so that it pleases the people staying in it as well as all the guests. That is why renovating your home within every few years is important. But what happens if you do not have the funds to pay for all the renovations? In such a case, financial institutions and lenders can come to your rescue. There are a lot of financial institutions and lenders in the market who will provide you with financial aid to renovate your house.

People usually opt for personal loan as the proceeds of a personal loan can be used in any way the applicant wishes to use it. The banks do not generally the monitor how the funds from the personal loans are used.

There are certain eligibility criteria that the applicant has to fit into before their personal loan for home renovation is approved. One of the most important things that the financial institutions or lenders check is the applicant’s credit score. The financial institutions and the lenders check the applicant’s, i.e. your credit score to check your creditworthiness and to see if you can repay all your personal loan debt on time. The other things that the financial institution or lenders check are your bank statements, your job stability, your liabilities, your past financial statements, etc. All of this is done to determine if you will default on your personal loan repayments or not.

Usually, the interest rates offered on the personal loans are high. But the interest rates offered by banks differ. Some banks may charge you with high-interest rates whereas some may charge you with the low-interest rate for the same amount. The interest rates majorly depend upon two factors. Firstly the amount you borrow determines the interest rate that you will pay. Borrowing a huge amount may make you pay higher interest rate. And secondly, the loan tenor that you opt for determines the interest. If you opt for a long-term loan tenor, the financial institutions or lenders will charge you with low-interest rates.

If you want to get a lower interest rate on your personal loan for house renovation, then it is necessary that you have a good credit score. The credit score, i.e. CIBIL score ranges from 300 to 900. If your credit score is anywhere above 750 then it is considered as a good credit score. If you have a good credit score, the financial institutions might offer you a lower interest rate and your loan application will be processed faster. All this will be reversed if you have a bad credit score.

After demonetization, the Indian government has announced that all the previous interest rates on loan will be discounted. The interest rates in the urban area are discounted by 4% for a loan amount of about 9 lakh and 3% for up to 12 lakh loan amount. Whereas, the interest rate in rural area is discounted by 3% for a loan up to 2 lakh. This is the discounted interest rates if you wish to go for a personal loan for Home renovation.

Taking a personal loan is a very crucial decision, one that must be given a serious thought. A personal loan will affect your financials until you pay off all your debt. You need to make sure all your documents are in place. If your personal loan application gets rejected, it will negatively affect your credit score. it is also necessary that you do a proper research on all the banks that offer a personal loan and select a bank that offers you the lowest personal loan.
