The jungles of Chhattisgarh were once home to a wide variety of wildlife. But with the advent of technology and human settlement, the state lost its wildlife culture. At present, the NRDA is working towards bringing back a harmonious settlement of mankind and the wildlife, side by side. A prime example is the jungle safari in Naya Raipur.
Location:
The Nandanvan, as it has been named, is located 30 km from the main railway station. Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur lies 15 km away and the Naya Raipur bus stand is only 35 Km from Nandanvan. This 200 hectare land lies beside the wetted perimeter of the Khandwa Dam.
The aims and objectives of jungle safari in Naya Raipur:
Building a wildlife reserve in the first green and smart city of India has some greater objectives than only trying to prove the development authority’s merit in new India’s development. Their major aims and objectives include-
Area division:
The whole 202 hectare area has been divided into 8 zones, keeping in mind animal welfare and for the convenience of management.

Consists of monuments and erected structures about the country’s and state’s native heritage.
Has parking facilities for more than 300 cars, 100 buses, 640 motorbikes and scooters.
This area comprises official and residential area for the appointed management and administrative personnel.
This area features a large water body with water pathways, floating gardens, etc. It also has allotted spaces for bird watching!
This is mainly a recreational and entertainment zone with amenities like, amphitheatre, floating decks, natural parks, canteens, food stalls, museum, orientation centre, etc.
This area has a number of animal enclosures with the landscape in the theme of Indian biographical zone.
This area is restricted to the visitors and is solely monitored by the management. It has veterinary hospitals, rescue centers, conservation and breeding centers.
The safari zone is the main attraction of the Nandanvan or Jungle safari in Naya Raipur. Net enclosed safari vans are available that take visitors touring through the jungle, encountering wild animals roaming freely in their natural habitat.
