Make sure that you get 70% or above at the school-level (minimum 50% in English) and 60% and above at the graduate level to be eligible to work as a marine engineer.

Being at sea for six months altogether is not as easy as they show it through popular cinema. On the contrary, it could be quite strenuous and requires a great deal of will-power, sense of duty, and presence of mind. Further, health and fitness is a prerequisite to survive when you are on board for months together. Therefore, candidates are required to fulfil the criteria mentioned below.
Age- 17-25 years with 5 years of relaxation for SC and ST candidates
Weight- Not less than 42 kgs

Good dental health
Mentally stable and strong psychological disposition
Candidates should be unmarried by the time of commencement
