Electrical Engineering is a field that deals with the energy that operates the world existing in various forms like gas, fuel cell, hydro, solar, wind or geothermal energy. This field of engineering imparts the necessary knowledge on how to utilize and distribute energies out from their sources to our daily life. This is a popular branch that deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. The subfields mainly include electronics, digital computers, power engineering, telecommunications, and control systems, to name a few. The course focusses on designing and testing integrated circuits, inductors, capacitors and resistors. The students also gain an understanding of how to design electronic circuits, computer systems and develop control systems required to specifications, focusing on the economy, reliability, safety, sustainability and quality. Engineers of this field are required to deal with problems associated with systems such as electric power transmission and electrical machines.
Electrical Engineering is primarily about electrical machinery, problems of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. It is also associated with electrical controls in factories, motors and transformers. There are plenty of job opportunities in the field of electrical engineering. Building transportation network, industry and services, construction, manufacturing, production and the distribution of power regard as some of the specialized fields of career development. An electrical engineer is trained and can work with industries that deal in product development, system management, product design, consumers’ electronics, transportation, wireless communication, manufacturing, automotive, defense and pharmaceutical.
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering department at Saintgits prides itself for being not only one of the founding departments but also one that secured a University rank from among the very first batch of graduates (2006). The post-graduate program in Power Systems was launched in 2008. The department offers a complete experiential learning experience through renowned and experienced faculty, excellence in research, technical workshops, camps and industrial visits. Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a dynamic and exciting field. Students get a complete understanding of electrical engineering, including generation, transmission, control and utilization of electrical power, and of electronics engineering, including the fundamentals of electronic circuits, communications, computer networks, microcomputer chips, digital and power electronics. The students are also familiarized with different electrical machines, electronic devices, and computer programming through industrial grade laboratories. Saintgits College of Engineering, right from inception, has been maintaining high levels of standards in academic and extra-curricular realms of activities. We offer a B Tech Degree course in 9 engineering disciplines, and Master’s Degree courses in Engineering, Computer Applications and Business Administration. In the short span of a decade of its existence and among the six batches of students that have graduated, the college bagged several university ranks and has a remarkably high percentage of pass. The students of the first batch of MCA bagged the first two ranks in the University. The college is also the venue of national and state level seminars and symposiums and has emerged as the hub of technical education in Kerala.
