What is 904L Stainless Steel Seamless Tube?
UR™ 904L Seamless Tube is a multipurpose 20 Cr – 4.3 Mo high corrosion resistance austenitic stainless steel developed 40 years ago by Industeel. Due to combined additions of chromium (20%), molybdenum (4.3%), copper (1.5%) combined with its high nickel content, 904L Seamless Tubes are recommended for most applications dealing with medium to severe corrosive solutions. Stainless Steel 904L Seamless Tubes has improved stress corrosion resistance properties. Alloy 904L Seamless Tube is particularly used in sulphuric and phosphoric acids applications.
In 1985 Rolex became the first wristwatch manufacturer to utilize ASTM B677 UNS N08904 in its watches. Rolex chose to use this variety of steel because it takes a higher polish than other grades of steel and provides greater corrosion resistance, though it does not machine as well and requires specialized equipment to be properly modified into the required shapes.
