For those who are seriously considering moving to San Bernardino you’re in good company. As a matter of fact, statistics are showing that more people are opting to leave the nearby big metropolis of Los Angeles and heading off to greener pastures in “San Berdoo.” According to LA Curbed,

“Every five years, the US Census Bureau releases its migration report and we’ve just gotten the exciting data for 2007 through 2011, which shows that the largest migration in the country – nearly 42,000 people – was from Los Angeles County to San Bernadino County.”

It leads many people to wonder what this city has to offer that would draw so many people away from one of the most popular cities in the country.

More Affordable Housing

One of the main reasons “San Berdoo” is so attractive is the lower cost of living. With so many people under tight financial strains it can be a welcome relief to find decent apartment rentals that are also affordable for the average person. The fact that you can pay your bills and still have enough money left over to stash away for a rainy day is a feature that puts a little hope in the hearts of many in these tight economic times.

Less Congestion

More space. It is no secret that living in neighboring Los Angeles County is like living in crowd. From traffic woes to housing that can literally have you sitting in your neighbors lap, the lifestyle of San Bernardino offers a welcome relief. The fact that the city has much more open space can be extremely attractive to someone who just needs a little more breathing room. When you live in San Bernardino you will be able to rent much more space for the same amount or even less money than you would normally spend in Los Angeles. There’s no question that having enough space to spread your wings definitely can be a boost to a better quality of life than you might have otherwise.

Quality of Life

Open spaces are only part of the reason why the quality of life is so much better in San Bernardino. The city is dedicated to improving the prosperity of the lives of its residents by providing affordable services and an excellent public safety program. In addition, as a resident the city ensures that life will be full of plenty opportunities so you can get the best out of it. According to the city’s website,

“With 40 parks and six community centers, residents can enjoy beautiful playgrounds, swimming and play pools, adult and youth sports, special interest classes and excursions.”

Their list of city services shows that the city is not just looking for their residents to get by but for all of the families in the community to be able to thrive.

A Major Transportation Hub

Because of its ideal location, San Bernardino has been a major transportation hub for Southern California for more than 100 years. The rail and major highways travel through the city every day allowing for ease of ground transport and with an international airport only 30 minutes away and only an hour from the Port of Los Angeles, shipping and airfreight are also accessible for anyone who needs it.

In addition, the Metrolink commuter rail service provides long distance commuting possibilities for those residents that live in the city but work in outlying areas in other nearby cities. So, rather than spending their valuable time in gridlock as they commute back and forth to work or school they can relax, catch up on reading or even catch a few extra weeks while in route.

Whether you’re one of those Angelinos looking for greener pastures or you’re already familiar with a simpler lifestyle in San Berdoo you’ll more than likely have a whole new experience when you move to this growing Southern California city. For those who have already made the transition they heartily agree that San Berdoo is a Great Place to Live,

“But you know that already, don’t you? With its affordable housing, close proximity to nightlife hotspots, and regular music and cultural events, you’re seriously missing out if you don’t move here, pronto.”

So if you’re looking for something modern and chic without the hefty price tag which usually goes along with it, you will have a hard time finding someplace more welcoming than San Bernardino.
