For more than 30 years, Dr. Andrei Gal has developed the up-to-date technical and people skills that have made him a gifted and caring veterinarian. Dr. Gal graduated from the top veterinary school in Romania, where he worked with both small pets and large farm animals. When he came to the United States more than 25 years ago, he took additional training , and obtained licenses to practice veterinary medicine in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia.

Dr. Gal worked for 10 years at the West Park Animal Hospital, and then for 8 years at the Mt. Airy Animal Hospital, as he honed his surgical skills and clinical expertise. At the same time, he started one of the first House Calls practices in the Philadelphia area, a practice that continues to this day, although on a more limited basis.

In 1996, Dr. Gal acquired the Chester Pike Animal Hospital (CPAH) from Dr. Hansen, a veterinarian who had practiced at that location for 30 years. Dr. Gal's prime goal for CPAH is to provide excellent veterinary service and outstanding customer satisfaction.

Because the technological and knowledge base in Veterinary Medicine has become very advanced, and now rivals human Medicine, it is no longer practical for a local vet to try to do everything. The Chester Pike Animal Hospital is the friendly first line of veterinary medical care. Dr Gal's professional background and long experience allow him to diagnose and treat most of the presenting problems, but he will not hesitate to refer a complicated case to the wide network of new specialty care providers who are available in our area. CPAH strives to be your trusted veterinary family practice: big enough to perform routine surgeries and to hospitalize non-critical patients, but small enough to convey a feeling of intimacy and warmth. We encourage people to treat pets like family; we encourage routine preventive yearly visits; we emphasize the advantage of acquiring pet insurance, but we will not abandon families that lack financial resources. We will help as much as we can, and will discuss the pros, the cons, and the limitations of available approaches.

In keeping with Dr. Gal's philosophy of being both open and honest, our prices are competitive and fair; we are the only veterinary facility in the area that provides a list of current prices for our routine procedures, and we give our clients an opportunity to plan and budget in advance.
