Spectacularly flavored entrees, whether meats, seafoods, or pastas, are uncommonly well-prepared, and risotto is a specialty. In fact, everything tastes great, and the professional staff go far to add to the restaurant's appeal. Definitely worth the trip. Reservations recommended. Business dressy attire. If you are searching for an upscale Italian restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley, I think you’ll be well satisfied at Fresco Ristoranti on South Brand Blvd in Glendale. The owner/chef is Antonio Orlando, originally from Solerno, Italy, who has been a major star on the southern California dining scene for almost three decades. For me Antonio is the maestro of pasta and although his menu offers many of the most popular and well known dishes of Italy, when I think of Fresco I think of pasta. My favorite is the Spaghetti Puttanesca (ask for extra garlic and no anchovies). $12 is a reasonable price for this dish. Antonio’s Spaghetti con Polpettine di Vitello comes to your table with veal meatballs instead of the usual version. $15.00. Risotto with lamb, mushrooms and sage in a red wine sauce is an interesting presentation of this classical dish. $17.00. Of the seafood possibilities I highly recommend the Gamberoni alla Griglia, jumbo shrimp split, grilled and attractively presented. Even at $25 a good value. For meat I like the Lombata di Vitello Tartufata, a large grilled veal chop seasoned with fresh herbs, truffle oil and with a brown sauce. $26. In addition to pasta dishes, Antonio is also well known for his Osso Buco Milanese on a bed of risotto. $23. Going back to the beginning of the evening, you might find an unusual red beet soup as the soup of the day. $6. Best Known For...
