The types of face-lift surgeries depend on the area of the face to be treated, how invasive they are, and the type of incision used. The type you need depends on your requirements and condition which is consulted with a surgeon first. The surgeon will ask you some important questions such as which specific areas you want to improve, how long you can afford to spend recovering after treatment, and what are your expectations with the results.

1.Deep Plane Face-Lift or SMAS Lift
A deep plane face-lift surgery has long-lasting benefits to offer as it works on the underlying tissue layers and muscles by improving the nose-to-mouth line (nasolabial folds) which eventually gives you a more aligned and defined chin and jaw. This is the most penetrating or invasive procedure but its striking benefits can last for around 10 to 15 years. This treatment is particularly helpful for elderly people where severe facial sagging and laxity is common to see.
The procedure works by lifting and repositioning the tissues located in the cheekbones and mid facial region. Most often some cuts or incisions are needed along the hairline so the upper fatty deposits and facial muscles can be easily relocated to the cheekbones and mid facial area. The lifting and repositioning gives the client a new youthful look. Apart from other clients, smokers are also advised to undergo this surgery.

2.Mid Face-Lift
By the time we hit our mid-30s, our tissues residing in the cheekbones start to sag and lax gradually, thus creating nasolabial folds. This flattens the mid facial area and makes a women’s face a sort of masculine. People between 40 and 50 are most vulnerable to such issues and are best referred for this surgery.
The procedure often follows by several small incisions around the hairline and inside the mouth to lift and reposition the fatty tissue layers from the affected areas. This also ensures there are no visible scars left. The benefits include improving of nose-to-mouth lines and fullness over the cheekbones making you look younger.

3.Mini Face-Lift or “S” Lift
This is the least invasive surgery among other treatments, and is more of a temporary anti-ageing solution with less downtime needed. The term “S” lift comes from type and shape of incision applied. The incision usually begins from the ear around the hairline with the scars hidden in the skin’s natural crease. The treatment can also be performed through an endoscope and works to reposition the skin and soft facial tissues. Once this phase is complete, the surgeon then carefully uses small sutures to reposition the skin. This surgery is mainly advised for younger patients who are affected by premature ageing rather than undergoing full face-lift as their skin is not ready for such intense treatments yet. The recovery period is also small due to its less invasive nature.

4 Thread Lift
A thread lift or feather lift is a less invasive treatment as compared to full-fledged surgeries. It is mainly preferred by people in their late 30s or early 40s who are looking for minor fixes to get rid of sagging in the forehead, nasolabial folds, and in the eye areas.

A thread lift can be effectively performed by using local anesthesia. The procedure involves using a barb suture technique where barbs acting as hooks are run along with threads to accumulate skin layers in upward direction for skin tightening. The thread along with the barbs remain in place and does not get absorbed or dissolved in the skin. There are no risks of skin tear and only the barbs on the thread display the lifting effect. The benefits of a thread lift can last for up to five years.
