Dr. McAfee grew up with a father who was a member of the United States Air Force and moved around several times as a child. She spent most of her teen years in southern Illinois near St. Louis, were her parents still live. Dr. McAfee went to Eastern Illinois University and graduated in 2000 with a bachelors degree in zoology and chemistry. She went to the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2005. She completed an internship in small animal surgery and medicine at VCA Aurora and Berwyn and has stayed with the VCA family ever since. Dr. McAfee grew up owning dogs but currently has 2 cats. She also enjoys working with exotic animals and volunteers at the Willowbrook Wildlife Center.
