IntroductionReading is studying and reading material is evolving into new formats and new means of accessing reading materials (Dorion, 2011). Through the ages, civilization has witnessed books evolve from words written on clay tables known as cuneiform and parchment paper to books printed from ink and more recently to electronic books or e-books. With the growth in popularity of tablet computers and more advanced mobile devices, publishers are increasingly making digital versions of books that have traditionally been available in paper format. This type of analysis provides insight into format usage that is helpful to librarians in evaluating collections and determining how best to allocate resources, including time, money, and space. Books are the main source of knowledge to help students learn efficiently, think, and grow critically.Through the evolution of the human mind and activities, man creates and evolves through the use of technology. Students as well as instructors may have to break with old habits and publishers have to find a way to deliver stimulating content without the current limitations for end-users due to rights management (Doering, 2012). Because of published books and reading materials, our mind expands more information and helps us to think more of intellectual thoughts.Reading is one of the primary ways to acquire student's knowledge, understanding the written word is one way of the mind grows in its ability. Among students, reading is a vital aspect of their learning process the knowledge they gain is cumulative and grows exponentially. The books used as a standard source of information for formal study of a subject and an instrument for teaching and especially in learning. What is a book? Based on Oxford Dictionary, a book is a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers, it may also be defined as a literary composition that is published or intended for publication as a book. What is an eBook? According to Oxford Dictionary, an e-book is an electronic version of a printed book which can be read on a computer or a specifically designed hand held device. Books and E-books are identical in content but can differ through their purpose, thus it's through similar situations wherein we can look through whether or not books and e-books can accomplish the same purpose, or replace the other, or simply serve as a compliment for each other. This study explores the interrelationship of e-books, the affordances offered by readers, the information needs of academics, and the "fit" of technology to tasks as well as performance (Akter, 2013). E-books have made understanding much easier showing that e-books have quickly become an essential part of the information mix. E-books are useful with quick access ability and use on the go anywhere and everywhere. Technology gets more interesting as or journey moves and e-books help young students and millennials to be motivated and interested. E-books makes a meaningful difference in academic progress and learning speed. On the other hand, printed books have their own healthy niche (Cowan, 2013). Many people are still attached with printed books because they are loyal to their platform and they are less likely to be persuaded to read a digital book.Following the rise to prominence of electronic book technology in the late 1990s, e-books have been a popular topic in recent years (Langston, 2003). E-books can effectively support an academic mission by saving time, adding value as a collective online reference, and enabling dynamic and cost-effective collection management (Cox, 2004). An e-book comprises a digital body primarily of text with a defined scope. The term “e-book” is used to describe a text analogous to a book that is digitally displayed on the screen of a computer, a personal digital assistant, or a specifically designed reader; it may comprise text, graphics, video, animation, and/or sound. The e-book is a new platform for accessing digital information that capitalizes on the benefits of electronic reading while providing many of the advantages of paper books (p-books) (Landoni & Hanlon, 2007; Jeong, 2010). In recent years, as screen technology continues to advance along with development of the literacy level of students and their digital competence, it is apparent that their reading habits have significantly shifted from paper-based to digital-based reading (Shopova, 2014). Nonetheless, how far changes in technology and the convenience of using gadgets and mobile devices have made digital literacy enhanced and thus encouraged more effective reading habit?Reading habits and reading preferences change rapidly through our digital world. Our research attempts our main purpose to establish and find out what book is more preferred by students used for learning development and academic purposes. One of our objectives is to assess the impacts of e-books and printed books. Second is to identify the effects of e-books and printed books. Third is to determine the preferred book that is mostly used. Fourth is to observe the following health effects of each book and last but not the least is to highlight the differences in behavior and attitude between users and non-users of e-books and printed books.Studying the different attitudes between printed book users and e-books users will help us to improve different implications for school purposes and possible improvements in academics. Our objectives will help us to observe the implementations of books. These implementations will help us to capture the interest of students and readers.Today’s students, also referred to as the twenty-first century students - use technology to gather, analyze, and synthesize information for application in global economy (ASCD Position Statement, 2008). It is imperative that changes be made in the way we teach to better meet the needs of the 21st century learner. The appropriate use of technology in the classroom can be a challenge for the school itself to determine the best learning reference medium between printed books and e-books that can suit for the learners as well as the teachers for an effective increase of vocabulary acquisition and learning comprehension development.
