Veterans possess hard-earned and invaluable skills. Many of the most famous astronauts of NASA including Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, and Buzz Aldrin were members of the military. Previously, astronauts came from the military because people, who had experience and the willingness to face dangerous situations, were required. Military experience builds an elusive character that companies need in their employees. Military service can change the trajectory of a person.
During their time in the military, veterans develop combat skills that they can make use of in the defense field. Veterans play important roles because of the technical skills, capabilities, and most importantly, the leadership skills. Here are few of the military skills that Veterans in defense and spacecan be utilized for securing a job in this field
● Communication skills: Communication skills don’t mean in a technical sense, this has nothing to do with a radio. These are the skills you develop by talking to a variety of people encountered in the service. It’s definitely an advantage for the veterans over a non-veteran because of the way you’ve taught to speak in front of your superiors.
● Flexibility: Circumstances change, things do not go according to the plan, and veterans possess the flexibility to improvise, adapt, and overcome. The experiences they got from their past scenarios and their training help them to stay calm, focused, and keep their cool. It is one of the military skills that refer to your ability to accept things and adjust to the situations.
● Planning skills:Veterans have spent a significant amount of time where they had to plan for certain tasks. The ability to plan well, or recognize that a plan isn’t about working the way it should have worked, and then taking effective steps to create a new plan on the spot is a very sought-after skill.
● Technical skills:Though the skills above are applicable for all veterans yet the technical part relates to the veteran’s military career and often to a civilian career. Some examples can be telecommunication, mechanic, health care specialist, and engineer some develop their skills in electrical or construction trades.

● Technician Welder- Aerospace Repair station: Welding, fabricating details for tubes, evaluate, disassemble and reassemble, polishing, grinding, carbon boring, sandblasting, etc. are the works accomplished in this job.
● Aerospace Instructor or trainer: Knowledge of principles for instructions, the instructor works with the instructor Resource management team to deliver aerospace course ware.
● Aerospace Zinc Thermal Operator: Employees will select the correct program for surface finishes and verify the thickness and adhesion of the thermal spray process.
● Operation Supervisor: Responsible for implementing, developing and maintaining departmental goals, and ensure team members adhere to all work instructions and requirements.
● Aerospace Packager: The job is to use multiple methods to process parts for plating and other coatings.
● Aerospace non-destructive testing (NDT) Operator:
Attention to product quality, use tooling and fixtures, and the operator trainee focuses on Mag/penetrant.
● Aerospace Paint 10-85 Masker: Employees apply a variety of maskants to parts for dry-lube application and paint.
