Hello my name is Patrick Murphy. I am 18 years old currently living in Dover, Delaware. I was originally born on Okinawa, Japan as my dad was active duty miltary. I move every 2 years or so so I have had the pleasures of seeing many different parts and areas, also meeting many different kinds of people and personalities.

I have always been interested in art in some kind of way even when I was little. For as long as I can remember I was trying to do somthing on a kind of artistic level. Even though granted when I was little my thought and ideas are not nearly as deep as they are now. I still did mess around alot with papers and or anything. My very first artpiece I had ever created. Was in kindergarden my teacher had just taken us to a zoo near dover, delaware (my dad was currently stationed on Dover AFB). When we got back to the school I looked at the wooden blocks (there were various squares and animal shaped blocks) and just started placing them everywhere. I knew what I wanted to do as my goal was to recreate the zoo i had just visited in my own manner. The only thing that still angers me is I can still remember the two twins who wer in my class that day, they use to take the zebra's and giraffers out of there (squares) and run them on the sidewalks. It frustrated me alot!

Then as school progressed every now and then my art classes would play me videos. Give me little ideas of how to draw and such. I saw a video of a professional artist who just randomly scratched everywhere, so I witnessed this and thought to myself. (if all you have to do is make the movement of what is being placed then precision isnt exactly EVERYTHING in art). Although I did not come to this realization on the stop. I just sat in awe and kept the image of his hand movements showing him sketch the pictures. So I then began my journey as I tried to do what he did, I tried maping out every single detail leaving nothing but confusion. So then one day I told myself "forget this" and just started scratching everywhere in random ways light and heavy then I would slowly but surely learn how to create the images I create today.

The way I currently draw what I draw. Is I use controlled scratches and placements of my images. Then I run sketchy layers over it and erase all traces of the sketchy qualities. Then I repeat the process. I will continue doing this untill the image has either evolved on its own to my liking or i have accomplished what i have set out to do. Make art!!

Alot of my recent works have no photo refrences. For I am on a mission to simply draw what I DRAW. So I can put together what MY portfolio would represent and the art that comes from me as a person. If I take time to look at photos that is not coming from my own head, if I take time to look at other styles or learn more that does not come from my head. So in my own opinion that is not what my portfolio would look like as me an artist right now. My goal is to simply express myself and who I am, as I venture through art and nothing more, Now to sum it up.

When it comes to my art, I simply just enjoy the creation process. Somthing about having a blank sheet of paper infront of my eyes as i slowly or quickly develop it into somthing special just gets me! I also take a fascination into movie scenes and situations that are related to cinematics. So in some of my art i try to capture that "feeling" I get in certain lifetime situations.
