No one looks forward to car repairs. They are inconvenient and costly. Some are easier and cheaper than others. While the ones we really dread are the ones that can potentially drain your bank account... and really test your patience! However, understanding the noises that your vehicle makes can go a long way in lessening the pain of a costly auto repair.
Have you been noticing any sounds coming from under your car's hood? A squealing noise can be a sign that the serpentine belt, also known as the drive belt, is wearing down and needs to be replaced. This belt has a big job and should never be ignored. If a problem with this belt were to be neglected, and it were to break, it could cause your car to overheat which can cause extensive engine problems.
Perhaps your vehicle has rattling or rumbling noises coming from the exhaust system. The exhaust is mostly underneath your car, so the sounds would likely come from beneath you. If your car is louder than you have ever noticed before, you may have a hole in your exhaust system. Or maybe there is a loose pipe that needs reattached. It could even be that your muffler needs replaced or a corroded pipe section may need to be replaced with a new part. It just may be your catalytic converter. If you are at a complete stop and you hear rattling, this could very well mean that you need to replace the catalytic converter.
Take notice of the next time you hear any unusual noises coming from your vehicle. Get them checked out with your mechanic to avoid worsening any issues. www.ShiffletAutoCare.com
