Having a mechanic that you can rely on is a wonderful thing. In order to find the kind of mechanic that you can trust and believe in, you will need to do your homework. Don't worry, it isn't hard... and it is totally worth it! One thing that you can do is talk to people that you know and trust. Ask them who they use as a mechanic or auto repair shop. Family members, friends and co-workers own cars too, so the also need mechanics. If you have recently relocated to a new town or city, check reviews as a way of getting yourself informed. Go online and look for mechanics and auto shops that are local. They will have reviews from previous, and current customers on their direct websites. Also, the Better Business Bureau is a great resource for finding great mechanics. Another helpful tip: do this research early and before you experience a problem with your vehicle That way you won't feel pressured to go with whoever you find first in the event of an emergency. If this isn't possible to do because you need that mechanic now, ask that mechanic questions. Ask the mechanic to show you the problem. Ask the mechanic what all of your options are at that time as far as repairs. This should not be a problem for them. They should be more than willing to cooperate. Always seek out mechanics who are ASE certified. This is VERY important. The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence only gives these certifications to the mechanics who have been trained and tested to ensure that they really know their stuff when it comes to automotive technology. These are just a few helpful suggestions to help everyone find a mechanic who works for them and their precious vehicles. www.ShiffletAutoCare.com
