The space:
This beautiful Queen Anne Victorian property was originally built in 1885 by Eurastus M. Shelford on property given to him by his father, John Shelford III, that was purchased in 1863 as part of the Rancho Musalacon Land Grant. The Victorian was damaged by a fire in the early 20th century and was rebuilt in 1910. During the 1930s the family built a smaller cottage for an aging mother who could no longer climb the steep stairs in the Victorian. The Cottage sits more than 35 feet from the back door of the Victorian and has a privacy fence separating the two houses. Six generations of the Shelford family have lived either in the house or adjoining ranch properties for over one hundred and thirty years. The Shelford family sold the property in the early 1980s and the new owners built the Carriage House in 1984 and began operating as a bed and breakfast. In 2009, the property was once more sold and operated as Auberge in the Vineyard until our family purchased it in 2017.
Today the Victorian on the Vineyard, much of it completely remodeled, continue's to offer guest's a serene, relaxing environment for their vacation. Each one of the buildings combines modern comforts with the nostalgia of Victorian splendor.
