The Old Rist Hotel is situated in the historic town of Clinton, Louisiana in the rolling hills of Feliciana parish. The Rist, named after Mrs. Lou Rist, is believed to have housed Elvis Presley, Charles Lindbergh, and the Kingfish himself --Gov. Huey P. Long, where he is believed to have thrown extravagant parties. Clinton was founded in 1824 and was booming with prosperity in the 1830's. Clinton has been the home to several movies, most notably --The Dukes of Hazard, starring Jessica Simpson. Clinton is known for its boutique shopping, local restaurants, and is located just 15 minutes away from historic Jackson and 30 minutes from St. Francisville.
