Restaurant Description
The joint is named after radio personality Gary Burbank, one of the owners and self-proclaimed "John the Baptist of barbecue." There are photos of Burbank, Blues musicians, and a red bathtub in the main room with a sign: "After getting down easy and getting up greasy, wash here." Some tables for two around the bar are great to people -watch and to see the action on the platform where musicians play their hearts out. Southern BBQ lovers are in luck. The sweet cornbread is to die for, the ribs are delicious and the live blues music adds to the atmosphere. Ever disappointed by a rib joint's sauce? Make your own here as you have bottles to mix and match right on your plate. Plenty of good soulful sides make this one hit the right note. "The place for real barbecue and ribs" lives up to its claim - spicy, savory and succulent - served with cornbread and sides. Or try the award-winning smoked chicken and sausage gumbo. There's also lighter fare, sandwiches and a kids' menu too. End with the luscious derby pie.
