This beautiful, spacious, light filled Custom Cape in North Chatham is situated on a rise at the end of 1.5 Mile Nickerson's Neck stretching into the warm waters of Pleasant Bay. Great neighborhood for kids. On a cul de sac, well removed from traffic, and only one property back from the water on two sides; Crows 'Pond' on one and Pleasant Bay on the other. Glimpses of water, lots of sea breezes, and just steps down a shared right of way to the shore to launch your kayak (Kayaks provided!). The house is surrounded by professionally kept gardens including a Japanese garden and Koi pond off the deck. The house features vaulted ceiling with skylights in the dining-sitting area, kitchen with FP, den with wood stove, and family room with FP, lots of seating, and three 48' HDTVs. Three bedrooms include queen size beds. The fourth includes a pullout and two twins.
Nearby Family Swimming: We are often asked “we have young children, how close is the nearest public beach? The 'ideal' swimming/sunning beach for the family is Jackknife Harbor beach on Orleans Rd just over a mile from the house. With plenty of public parking, Jackknife Harbor beach is a nice sandy beach on Pleasant Bay with relatively warm, calm water, and a tidal stream for the children to play in. Jackknife beach is perfect swimming for both children and sunning for adults!
If you want to cut the older kids loose to do some swimming on their own, they can ride their bikes from the house down quiet side streets to Strong Island Landing just over 1/2 mile from the house. This is a great beach/landing for the boys. Though a small beach, it is very little used.
Walking around the neighborhood: Our house is situated at the end of a 1.5 Nickerson's Neck stretching into Pleasant Bay. The outer end of the neck (beyond the golf course) consists of high end homes (many waterfront) on cul de sacs and quiet side streets. The streets are wide and winding with many glimpses of water. Morning and evening walks, jogs, and bike rides are a great way to enjoy the immediate neighborhood and the fresh ocean air.
Kayaking from the House: Across the circle at the bottom of our drive is a right of way leading down to the shore on Crows Pond. The water is little more than 100 yards from our back door. Please ask about using our kayaks, or bring your own canoe or kayaks and use our kayak carts to walk them down to the shore. Crows Pond and the sheltered portion of Pleasant Bay just outside the Pond are some of the Cape's premier kayaking waters. Great wildlife viewing. Kayak out to Fox Island for a quick swim or picnic, or further out to Strong Island Preserve for a day of hiking/swimming!
Great Neighborhood for Children: If you have children, bring their bikes! Our house is on a private circle at the end of Fox Hill Road in an exclusive neighborhood with great neighbors. There is little traffic on the local side streets. We have a nice lawn surrounding the house on three sides - and removed from the street - great for the very young to play in the grass. Older children can ride their bikes 1/2 mile down quiet side streets to Strong Island Landing for swimming.
