The training lasts for approximately four hours so it can be completed in a single day. The entire point of the program is to provide free training to help teens learn to drive safely. The program gets parents directly involved so they know exactly what is going on. Kia and B.R.A.K.E.S. are now working together to provide this training completely free of charge to people across all areas of the country.

Typically, the course covers six different dangers that teens will typically face when they are driving on their own. In order to teach them how to avoid accidents safely, they go through a slalom course so they can learn more effective car control. The program also helps them realize the dangers of distracted driving by placing them in a controlled environment where they are able to see exactly what can happen when they look down to read a text or send one. Young drivers are taught how to recover when their car veers off the roadway and one or more tires ends up on a soft shoulder. This is a major concern because even experienced drivers often overcorrect the automobile and make the situation worse. Learning how to recover properly is critical to driver safety and that is part of the reason that the program was set up. Proper braking methods are also taught and teens are taught how to drive on wet roads without getting in a crash.
