Suggested Area Activities:
There are many things to do: hiking, boating, fishing, horseback riding, biking, skiing, white water rafting, wine tasting and most of all, relaxing.
Watauga Lake has 106 miles of shoreline. More than half of Watauga Lake's shoreline lies within the Cherokee National Forest and cannot be developed. The lake is very clean since it is mountain spring fed. The Raven provides 2 canoes locked at the community dock. The location of the boat dock is close and just a few mins walk or a mins drive down the mountain. There are public boat launches close by and local marinas to rent a boat. This where you would launch your boat, buy gas and store your trailer if you brought your own watercraft.
There are many great hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail which goes along Watauga Lake. There is a local winery called Watauga Lake Winery which offers wine tastings and other fun activities throughout the year. There are several local restaurants where you can dine while looking over the lake and mountains.
Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, Grandfather Mountain and Linville are all close by with many activities, stores and restaurants too.
