Derek V. Chan, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.A.D. - BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY

Dr. Chan received his A.B. in Biochemical Sciences with Honors from Harvard. He received a joint M.D. and Ph.D. from Boston University, where he also held 1 of 10 national fellowships from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and was also a recipient of the annual Tai Foundation Scholarship for Merit & Achievement at Boston University School of Medicine. At Boston University, his research focused on the development of innovative therapies to target specific cancer cells using recombinant fusion proteins. After medical school, he was the recipient of an National Institute of Health funded training grant under the mentorship of Kevin Cooper, MD, focusing upon mechanisms of psoriasis and also conducted clinical studies regarding cutaneous lymphomas. He is a reviewer for Archives of Dermatology and Clinical Cancer Research and has been nationally recognized by the National Psoriasis Foundation, the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation, and the International Society for Cutaneous Lymphomas. He has spoken at several national and international meetings, has received National Institute of Health grant funding, and has published in several key peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association: Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. A native of upstate New York, Dr. Chan moved to the Midwest to complete his residency in dermatology at Ohio State University before returning to the East Coast. He maintains interests in psoriasis, cutaneous neoplasms, and lasers/cosmetic dermatology and currently resides in Manhattan.
