In 1992 Dr. Margaret Fordham graduated with honors from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. She started her career in a mixed animal practice in Connecticut but soon became interested in emergency medicine and became an emergency doctor in 1994.

In addition to her work in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, Dr. Fordham has long had an interest in exotic pet medicine. She completed a Residency in Pet Exotic Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008 and taught as a clinical instructor there from 2008-2010. She is an adjunct professor of Exotic Pet Medicine and Surgery at Saint Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grand Cayman and a consultant for the exotic patients for Best Friend’s Animal Society in Angel Canyon, Utah (as seen on the Animal Planet show “Dogtown”).

During some of her free time, Dr. Fordham cares for exotic pet patients through a veterinary hospital in Philadelphia. She and her son live in Princeton with a dog (a pug named Chimichanga) and a cat (named Tintin).
