REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY

*1* You Must be Fluent in English

*2* Minimum of 2 Years of College/University Completed

*3* Clear Criminal Background (a private background check is accepted but applicants must go through Larisa the Placement Coordinator for Georgia)

*4* No Health Issues (medical check done at your own expense either in your home country or in Georgia where it is ~$40 USD)

*5* You must be able to get 2 reference letters (from employers or professors)

*6* Host families will only provide accommodation for one volunteer per household. No dependents (spouses/children or pets allowed)

Documents Required from Successful Applicants: Resume (must be submitted with initial application), criminal background check, medical test, two professional reference letters, passport, casual photo & cover letter

Location: Georgia (Across the country. Volunteers are given their location assignment during the in-country orientation)

Type of School: Public schools (Elementary, Middle & High School)

Positions Available: 500+

Start Dates: the 15th & 30th of every month (excluding Dec 30th)

Contract Length: 1 School Year (Departing on the 15th or 30th of Oct, Nov, Jan,

Feb, Mar or Apr & teaching until Jun 20, 2011)

Number of Students/Class: 10-20 students/class

Assistance in the Classroom: Volunteers will be working side-by-side with a local teacher

Teaching Hours: 26-30 Hours/week

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm or 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Volunteer Stipend in Local Currency: 500 Georgia Lari/month tax-free

Volunteer Stipend in USD: Approx. $300 USD/month stipend tax-free (paid into your Georgian bank account)

Health Insurance: Local Medical Insurance Provided

Room & Board: Free Homestay with Meals (Homestays - living with a host family) are usually within walking distance to schools. Most volunteers will have internet access at the school or homestay. Homestays have been screened by the Georgian government

Airfare: Pre-Paid Return Airfare

Unpaid Vacation: Up to 4 weeks unpaid vacation

Bonus Information: Teachers that have signed on for two semesters are given a free flight home leaving on Dec 20th and flown back on Jan 20th (for teachers that start in Jan they will be flown home in the summer)
