WALTERS GROUP STAFF ATTENDS “MEET THE BUILDER” EVENT
Optimism Prevails at Shore Builders Meeting
BARNEGAT, N.J., March 18, 2010 – Local builders were optimistic but cautious when discussing the future of the housing market. That was the general mood, according to Ken DeMayo, who attended the “Meet the Builders Night,” sponsored by the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey (SBACNJ), on March 10 at the Jumping Brook Country Club in Neptune.
“There was good feeling in the room,” said DeMayo, vice president of construction for the Walters Group, based in Barnegat.
There are some signs that the market is emerging from the recession, according to Edward Walters, Jr., president and founder of the Walters Group. “This season we’re reporting more deposits than a year ago this time at our Ocean Acres and Whispering Hills developments,” he said.
“Homebuilding has always been a cyclical business. Historically, it was a bad downturn, but it will swing back,” said DeMayo “We can expect to see housing values reach where they were and even increase.”
SBACNJ is a trade association that serves all building related industries in the region.
