Local Developer Celebrates Service during National Volunteer Month

BARNEGAT, N.J., April 26, 2016 – Walters Group has been recognized as a champion of good works in New Jersey, employing a strategy of caring about their employees, customers and community. The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) saluted their generosity by naming the regional developer a finalist in their “Companies that Care” program.

To honor the philanthropy of the business community, CIANJ presented their awards during a gala held at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack. “For most of these companies their donations, kindness and community outreach are part of their corporate culture — their mission,” said Martin Kafafian, chairman of the CIANJ board of directors. “The public at large is often unaware of the magnitude and scope of the good works. This reception is our way of shining a spotlight on ‘Companies that Care’.”

“At the Walters Group, we encourage our staff to get involved in fundraising activities—like the upcoming Relay for Life, which we’ve participated in for the past 12 years. As a company, we’ve made it our mission to actively give back to the communities where we build,” said Ed Walters, Jr., president and founder.

April is National Volunteer Month and Walters’ employees and their families are gearing up for the annual Southern Ocean County Relay For Life event to be held in May at Southern Regional High School in Stafford Township. Walters Group has been participating as a team since 2004, raising funds for cancer research.

The spirit of service is embedded in the culture at Walters Group and is reflected in the numerous philanthropic organizations in Ocean County that benefit from their philanthropy. Over the years, their commitment to give back has been expressed in numerous efforts to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Toys for Tots, The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company, American Red Cross, hurricane relief, Habitat for Humanity and annual college scholarships for local high school students.
