New Social Media Platform Will Enable Live Video Chat
with Hip-Hop Artists, DJs and Producers

WHAT:
Yackit (www.yackit.com) has partnered with Unique Squared Mobile Studio - a tricked-out tour bus and mobile recording studio traveling the country’s festival route - during South by Southwest (SXSW) to create a “Rap-A-Yack” station aboard the bus, enabling live celebrity hip-hop “yacks” from the festival. Yackit is a new social media platform that allows live 24/7, 4-person chat via webcam. Yackit chats are viewable by the public, who can comment live and queue-up to join the conversation. Unique Squared is an online pro-audio retailer.

Hip-hop artists, producers and DJs attending SXSW will be recording live sessions aboard the bus for two mixtapes, which will be available for free download in early April from mobilestudio.uniquesquared.com. Following their recording sessions, several will jump into the “hot seat” on a yack with their fans to do a Q&A, talk about live happenings at SXSW and possibly engage in some impromptu freestyling. Facebook and Twitter updates will keep followers in the know of who’s “yacking” and when.

Following SXSW, “Rap-A-Yack” will host upcoming rap competitions for select spots on a mixtape to be available for download onYackit.com.

WHY:
The Yackit “Rap-A-Yack” station within the Union Squared Mobile Studio lets music fans across the country connect with some of their favorite artists and up-and coming talent, while they are live at SXSW, even if they can’t make it to the festival.

With a fully functional recording studio built into a tour bus – boasting equipment from AVID (Pro Tools), Mackie, Shure, AKAI, Numark, Monster, Presonus, Alesis,and Auralex – the Unique Squared Mobile Studio’s goal is to record live mixtapes/albums, while promoting the idea that music can be created anywhere.
