All Events Free and Open to Area Residents

ALLENDALE, N.J., Aug. 29, 2012 - The Atrium Assisted Living at The Allendale Community for Mature Living will host a variety of "heavenly" programs, along with informative college lectures and health education events this fall. All events are free and open to the public.

Thurs., Sept. 6 - Join us at 7 p.m. in the Lounge for "An Evening with Harpist Alyssa Martini," who will perform a concert.
Mondays, Sept. 10 through Oct. 29 - Back to school isn't just for youngsters, teens and college students anymore. The Atrium is offering a College Lecture Series for area seniors who want to take advantage of free collegiate-level courses. The Teaching Company's Great Courses DVD-format series, highlighting "The Life and Music of Mahler," will be led by Professor Greenberg of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music at 11 a.m.
Wed., Sept. 12 - Learn about the basic spiritual concepts of life, balanced living and the history of various angels during an "Angel Lecture with Julia Santiago" at 1:30 p.m. in the Cinema.
Sat., Sept. 15 - The Annual "Senior-Fit" Health Fair will be held at The Atrium from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event features wellness education and information, diagnostic evaluations and screenings performed by local medical professionals and physicians. In addition, a "Zumba Gold for Seniors Class" will be led by Brooklynn Weight at 10:45 a.m., and Tai-Chi for Seniors will be taught by instructor Hasmig Mekjian at 11:30 a.m.
Thurs., Sept. 20 - Join us for an informative discussion facilitated by Karen Angrist, MSW, LCSW, and Jennifer Randall, M.D., highlighting the special challenges that families and community caregivers face caring for seniors and methods to support them. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Lounge, and a light dinner will be served. Pre-registration is required by calling Marion at (201) 825-0660, ext. 7997.
Thurs., Sept. 27 - Hackensack University Medical Center's (HackensackUMC) Senior Platinum Plus Program visits The Atrium for a "Keeping Your Mind Sharp" program at 2 p.m. in the Cinema.

Each event is being held at The Atrium at The Allendale Community for Mature Living located at 85 Harreton Rd., in Allendale, which is conveniently accessed via private driveway off of Route 17 South. Developed in stages beginning in 1967, The Allendale Community pioneered modern-day eldercare. Today, the campus includes four distinct residences that offer a continuum of care, should a resident's needs change: The Atrium Assisted Living; Carlton Court, a memory care neighborhood; The Allendale Nursing Home; and The Rehabilitation Center.
